Character Interview - Diesel
Diesel is hired later than the others. A German national, you can hardly tell he isn't American because he's been in America that long. He's observant and somewhat protective, especially of Athena and Lyra. He butts heads with JJ at first but proves himself to be an ally in the end.
Let's get to know him
How long have you been living in the city? What made you move here?
I’ve been here for a couple of weeks now, just kind of finding my way around and seeing what the city has to offer. I move around a lot so I don’t know how long I’ll be staying here. As long as it pleases me I guess. I’m originally from Germany, but I’ve been in the states for some time now.
Are you married with children or single to mingle?
I was married, no children. My wife passed away and I’m not looking for any further romance. Romance complicates things and makes you have to settle down in one place and plant roots. I don’t want to plant roots.
What made you want to become a tattoo artist?
I’ve always been interested in art and tattoos and it was just a natural gravitation to what I love. I studied both art and tattoo artistry in Germany and then moved to the states and have worked for several parlors across the states.
Who was your first love? Tell us about him/her.
I’d rather not talk about my first love. It’s a bit of a sore spot. I will say that while she was alive, she was the single most amazing person I’ve ever met and that there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss her.
Since you’re single, is there anyone special you do think of that you might want to tell us about?
Again, not interested in planting roots. Like are you guys obsessed with relationships? I have good relationships with the people I work with, I would consider them friends, but that’s about it for me and this city. I don’t think there’s anyone I’m particularly interested in.
What’s the best way to spend the day?
Taking a long ride on my motorbike out into the country and up and down the mountains. Just getting lost with the hair blowing in my face.
What’s the scariest thing that ever happened to you in a relationship?
My wife died. You don’t get worse than that.
