Character Interview - Lyra
Lyra is the main protagonist in Positively Inked alongside JJ. She runs Edgestone Parlor and is responsible for all the relationships that form when she hires various people.
Let's get to know her.
What’s your favourite place to visit and why?
In this new city? I love visiting the pier! There’s a year-round carnival there that is just always fun to go visit, they’re always bringing in new attractions and things to see. The second would be the Chapters bookstore which is open twenty-four hours a day seven days a week.
What is the perfect date for you?
Definitely something intimate, I don’t really like flashy things and showing off. A small meal together in a cosy restaurant or in a small diner-type setting where we can just talk about life, makes me happy. If it’s a day date then I like hiking and nature.
What’s a must-have in a relationship?
Trust and security. Trust is obvious, but what I mean by security is more physical security that ties in with trust. Don’t get obsessive and possessive about your partner, make them feel secure and safe around you. I speak from experience.
Who was your first love? Tell us about him/her.
Daniel. Oh he was amazing. I have a tattoo of a music note on my ankle to remind me about how he would randomly take out his guitar and serenade me. I was so sure we would get married but it turned out we had different goals in life and they just didn’t mesh well together.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Hopefully running a successful tattoo parlor with many tattoo artists employed by myself. I’d like to be a well-known name, a leader in the industry. Romantically I wouldn’t mind being married or even just in a long-term relationship.
What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you in a relationship?
Jeez, you pick hard questions. There was this one time when I was on a date with my then-boyfriend Brandon. I was wearing these beautiful white leggings and hadn’t realized I had gotten my period. Not only were my leggings ruined and everyone could see I was on my period, but he also made a huge deal about how disgusting it was and how I “should have held it in”. We didn’t last long.
Do you ever want kids? How many?
I never really thought about having kids. It’s not that I don’t want any, but I just never factored them in or haven’t reached a point where they are a factor. Well, with my new interest he has a daughter and I have to admit I’m smitten with her. She’s so adorable and we get along like a house on fire so I’m not even sure if I need my own kid!
